The Open Public Records Act (OPRA) governs the public’s access to government records in New Jersey. Not all government records are obtained from the same place, and some may be accessible without having to submit an OPRA request. Information on this page will help guide you through the process.

Septic and Well Records: Introducing a new Database to search yourself! No OPRA request is required.

Public Land Records (deeds, liens, filed maps, etc.): Refer to the County Clerk's Office

Construction Permits: For records relative to construction and home improvements (HVAC, plumbing, zoning, electrical), Certificates of Occupancy, underground/above ground storage tanks and fire inspections, please contact the municipality (town, borough or township) in which the property is located. Warren County does not have a construction department and will have no responsive records.

Vital Records (Birth, Marriage and Death): Vital Records are filed in the municipality where the event occurred.

Request Superior Court Records (Divorce, Expungement, Probation, Family Court, Criminal Cases)

If you prefer to print out an OPRA request form, fill it out by hand and submit it in paper form, you may do so:
