The Warren County Correctional Center is looking for individuals interested in beginning a career as a dedicated Law Enforcement professional.  We are now accepting applications for the position of County Correctional Police Officer. 

Requirements for this position include: residence within the state of New Jersey; a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a valid driver’s license, an ability to pass a thorough background/criminal investigation, a level of physical fitness able to pass the requirements established by the New Jersey Police Training Commission (NJPTC); and, an ability to complete a related course of study at an approved NJPTC Academy.

Basic duties of this position include, but may not be limited to: being directly responsible for the detention, safety, and welfare of an adult inmate population; processing/releasing offenders into/from custody; diffusing high stress situations; rendering assistance in crisis scenarios; completing annual training in firearms, self-defense, first-aid, and numerous other Attorney General mandates; and, transportation and recovery of inmates and fugitives.    

Salary for this position ranges from approximately $39k to $85k plus weekend/shift differentials, premium pay on holidays, and the ability to earn overtime.  Benefits include: membership in the Police and Fire Retirement System; a full medical package; and, paid vacation, sick, and personal leave.  Those serving three or more years of service become eligible for promotion to the ranks of Correctional Police Sergeant and, subsequently, to Correctional Police Lieutenant with salary ranges of $92k to $122k. 

Specialized positions and training are also available in: Special Emergency Response Team (SERT); Fugitive Recovery Unit; firearms and self-defense trainers/instructors; Corrections Labor Assistance Program (CLAP); Transportation Unit; Booking/Records Office; Court House Holding; and, numerous paid details working outside of the Correctional Center facilities.
