History

Legal Services for Senior Citizens of Warren County was established in June 1981 through a grant from the Older Americans Act, Title III. Since the onset of a the program, the service has assisted over 3,000 clients. We do not request payment for any services rendered; however, donations are appreciated.

About Legal Services for Senior Citizens

Legal Services for Senior Citizens is a program established to assist seniors of Warren County in different areas of civil law. We inform seniors of the availability of legal services, due process rights and inform them regarding legal issues and developments that may affect their rights and responsibilities. The program also offers educational or informative visits to senior gatherings.

The types of matters handled by the program are:

  • Landlord/Tenancy
  • Consumer
  • Family Law
  • Social Security
  • Other Public Benefits
  • Notarizing documents

We cannot handle matters involving:

  • Wills and Estates
  • Real Property
  • Personal Injury Matters
  • Guardianships
  • Municipal Court Matters

Eligibility for Assistance

The service is available free of charge to all Warren County seniors age sixty and over.

To assist clients, the program coordinator may:

  • Investigate
  • Research
  • Act as an advocate
  • Explain programs and benefits

The Program Coordinator would be most willing to speak at various senior centers, club meetings, or gatherings of seniors throughout Warren County. If your organization has legal questions, call us.

Did You Know:

  • Warren County has over 3,400 children and 1,000 seniors who live in poverty.
  • Every year over 300 tenants are evicted from their homes in Warren County.

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

We are handicap accessible. However, if you are homebound, a visit to your residence can be arranged.
