Shippen & the Revolutionary War

The museum will be open for self-guided tours from 11 am - 4 pm.

  • Tours will be temporarily paused from 1-130pm (during the firing demonstration)-- weather permitting
  • The tours will be semi-self-guided with docents/staff available for questions
  • Displays that show our Shippen family's involvement in the Revolutionary War

Visitors will be able to visit with the members of the 2nd NJ.

Scheduled outside, lower drive: (pending weather)

  • 1 - 1:30 pm: firing demonstration (visitors to lower porch); museum will be paused for tours if firing demonstrations are scheduled (pending weather)
  • 1:30 - 2 pm: Children's march (ages 5-12, lower driveway, pending weather)

Update for September 10 (9:21am)
All 2nd NJ programming will be move indoors due to pending weather. (Lower dining/kitchen, main floor). Please enter from lower porch or 2nd museum entrance (ADA entrance). No interior access from main to lower floor.
 

*Weather statement: The 2nd NJ will be on our hillside for the day. However, in case of inclement weather, some or most of the activities will be moved inside into the lower dining hall, lower kitchen, and lower porch.  Any updated over the weekend will be posted on Facebook (Shippen Manor) and at warrenparks.com.

  • Thunder, lightning and other severe weather: all outside programming will be cancelled and/or modified programming on lower porch and inside lower level (kitchen & dining)

Parking Statement:

  • Our back parking lot will be closed to all vehicles during the event. 
  • Our small parking area along Belvidere Ave. is for vehicles with handicap tags/plates and those who need direct accessibility to the museum entrances.
  • For everyone else, please park in town (see "Programming" for parking, accessibility, entrances, etc.)

We are a family-friendly site. 

Event is free to the public. Our Friends of Shippen is a volunteer group that accepts donations from our visitors at the end of the tours. All donated monies are used to purchase things for the museum.
